Are my writing-related challenges normal?: Exploring graduate student writing challenges and strategies to persevere

March 1, 2019 at 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM

Location:402 MacOdrum Library
Audience:Current Students

Writing is a complex social activity that many graduate students can find challenging as they try to find motivation and time to write as well as learn how to write for their respective disciplines of study. This session is designed to help graduate students understand the reasons they may be experiencing writing-related challenges in their current studies. It will draw upon research in writing studies to interpret findings from a Fall 2018 survey assessing the writing-related needs of Carleton’s graduate students, and it will also introduce participants to various strategies they can employ to successfully persevere with their graduate-level writing tasks.

Facilitator: Dr. Katie Bryant, Coordinator, Writing Services
