Media Training

November 25, 2019 at 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM

Location:617 Southam Hall
Audience:Current Students

This workshop is intended for those at Carleton who are giving media interviews or expect to be interviewed in the near future. It focuses on promoting your research to the media. Facilitated by two experienced former journalists, this workshop gives participants concrete skills and tips for interacting with members of the media. Participants will give mock interviews, some of which are taped and shared with the group.

Media Training will be of particular interest to upper year graduate students (in at least the 2nd year of their program) who are interested in learning how to discuss their research effectively in media interviews, particularly on television.

To register for this workshop please email beth.gorham@carleton.ca. Please note, the registration for this workshop is restricted and you should not count on having a seat until you receive confirmation from Beth Gorham that you are registered. If you are a TA, this workshop counts toward voluntary paid training hours, provided that you are working as a TA in the term when the training takes place.

As there is often a wait-list for this workshop, please notify beth.gorham@carleton.ca at least 48 hours in advance if you need to cancel your participation.
