These workshops will help you get on track with your professional development. Because we offer them on a semi-regular basis, you can take them at your own pace. They do not need to be taken in order. Please note: these workshops can only count toward TA training hours during the fall and winter terms.

Identify Your Skills: Graduate students and postdocs don’t always recognize the the many skills they already possess. In this workshop you will learn how to mine your experience for hard and soft skills that are of value to non-academic employers.

Explore the Job Market: Exploring the job market is a long-term research project; it takes time and effort. Learn how to ask the right questions so that you can gain an understanding of the sectors and occupations in your areas of interest, and how to think “horizontally” about professions that span multiple sectors.

Enhance Your Employability: Learn how to see professional development as a process that requires both action and analysis, and which draws upon skills that graduate students and postdocs already possess.

Once you have taken one or more of these workshops, you can proceed to the next step in establishing your career narrative.
