To connect with people as an academic, you need to tell stories with your research, and the storytelling skills you develop can benefit you in fields beyond academia as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Learning outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(1) Understand how stories function as a primary form of communication in human culture<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(2) Learn about the elements of stories, and different types of stories<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(3) Acquire insight into how storytelling can inform how you communicate your research<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(4) Gain an overview of how storytelling can function in non-academic professional contexts like copywriting and content marketing<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Workshop leader(s):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>David Lafferty<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All graduate students and postdocs are welcome.
