The admissions average used is calculated from the grades submitted by your high school in support of your application. Entrance scholarships are offered for fall entry only. You may be offered a renewable entrance scholarship provided you are entering Carleton for the first time from high school or CEGEP and have no previous attendance at post-secondary educational institutions.<br \/>\nTo be considered for an entrance scholarship, the University\u2019s Admissions Services must receive your complete application for admission and all required grades (either directly or through the Ontario Universities Application Centre) by June 15. Entrance scholarship offers are not assessed or reassessed on final high school grades.<\/p>\n<h3>Carleton Prestige Scholarships<\/h3>\n<p>You will be considered for a <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/awards\/scholarships\/entrance-scholarships-for-new-students\/prestige\/\">prestige scholarship<\/a> only if you are entering Carleton directly from high school or CEGEP. Students who have previously attended a post-secondary educational institution (either college or university) are not eligible for these awards. For all prestige scholarships, you must achieve an admission average of 90 percent or better. The selection committee will also assess the range of your community or secondary school extra-curricular activities.<\/p>\n<p>One application form is used for all the prestige scholarships.<\/p>\n<h3>Pamela and Richard Joho Scholarship<\/h3>\n<p>Awarded annually to an outstanding student entering:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bachelor of Humanities, or<\/li>\n<li>Bachelor of Arts in Greek and Roman Studies, or<\/li>\n<li>Bachelor of Arts in Religion, or<\/li>\n<li>the College of the Humanities (or any additional undergraduate degree program in the College of Humanities) at Carleton University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eligible students must be Canadian Citizens or permanent residents of Canada (landed immigrant or a protected person) and must demonstrate a strong academic background and participation in extra-curricular activities. Osborne Scholarship In Classical Greek<\/h3>\n<p>Awarded annually, when merited, on the recommendation of the Advisor for the Greek and Roman Studies program, to a student who has demonstrated excellence in the study of classical Greek.<\/p>\n<p>Endowed in 2009 by John Osborne, in memory of his father Robert E. Osborne, former faculty member at Carleton University.<\/p>\n<h3>Maurice Price Foundation Travel Bursary <strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Awarded annually on the recommendation of the Director of the College of Humanities to students who are travelling abroad for study in fulfillment of their curricular requirements. Such initiatives may include attendance at archeological summer field schools, travel courses offered through the College or other travel opportunities approved by the Director.<\/p>\n<p>Endowed in 2016 through the generosity of the Maurice Price Foundation. Please contact the department for more information.<\/p>\n<h3>Maurice Price Foundation Summer Research Internships<\/h3>\n<p>Endowed in 2016 through the generosity of the Maurice Price Foundation, internships are made available annually by the Director of the College of the Humanities, to promising, full-time students proceeding from one year to another in a program within the College of the Humanities. These internships are intended to assist full-time returning undergraduate students in gaining summer research experience.<\/p>\n<p>Students are invited to submit a research project that they propose to work on during the summer of 2026 in collaboration with a College faculty member. This summer we have one internship worth $3000, for which the awardee is expected to conduct 120 hours of research. This represents a time commitment of at least a .5 credit course and recipients are required to a) have regular meetings with their supervisor and b) produce a report on their research, or a potential colloquium presentation, equivalent to a major term paper.<\/p>\n<p>Interested students should send an application by email with the following information to the Undergraduate Administrator, <a href=\"&#109;&#x61;&#105;&#x6c;&#116;&#x6f;&#58;&#x61;&#110;&#x64;&#114;&#x65;a&#x2e;m&#x63;i&#x6e;t&#x79;r&#x65;&#64;&#99;&#x61;&#114;&#x6c;&#101;&#x74;&#111;&#x6e;&#46;&#x63;&#97;\">Andrea McIntyre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Resum\u00e9 with student number and year\/program indicated.<\/li>\n<li>A detailed description of a proposed research project (no more than one single-spaced page), setting out the project you would like to research and what skills and experiences you hope to gain through this program.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A statement of support from a College faculty member who is willing to supervise the project is also required and may be sent separately to Andrea. The bursary aims to support undergraduate students based at a Canadian university who have reason to travel to Greece. Travel could be for the purpose of participating in an archaeological project, attending a summer program or study abroad experience, or participation in some other academic activity that requires the student to be in Greece. We are particularly interested in supporting students who identify as members of historically underrepresented groups.<\/p>\n<p>The applicant must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant, pursuing undergraduate studies, and have a clear need to travel in Greece for purposes of research in any field of Hellenic studies, ancient to modern.<\/p>\n<p>Within three months of the end of the travel period, a brief report must be sent by the bursary recipient to the Chair of the CIG Fellowships Committee describing the work that was accomplished.<\/p>\n<p>In any subsequent publication of the research work done under the auspices of this bursary, the recipient shall acknowledge the Canadian Institute for Mediterranean Studies, the Canadian Institute in Greece, and the CIMS-CIG Student Travel Bursary.<\/p>\n<p>One or more bursaries will be offered each year, amounting to a total of CAD $2,000. The deadline to apply is<strong> March 1, 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cig-icg.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Bursary_announcement_CIMS-CIG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Call for applications for the CIMS-CIG Student Travel Bursary for 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Archaeological\u00a0Institute of America, Ottawa Society Annual Field School Incentive Fellowship<\/h3>\n<p>With a view to promoting archaeological inquiry and public understanding of the material record of the human past and to foster an appreciation of diverse cultures and our shared humanity, AIA Ottawa is pleased to offer an annual Field School Incentive Fellowship with a value of $500. The purpose of the fellowship is provide financial assistance for a <u>first time participant<\/u> in an archaeological field school recognized by the AIA.<\/p>\n<p>AIA Ottawa invites applications for one fellowship ($500) from students who will be attending an archaeological field school recognized by the AIA in 2026.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An Applicant must be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>at least 18 years old<\/li>\n<li>a student in good standing who is registered in a post-secondary institution in the National Capital Region<\/li>\n<li>attending an archaeological field school recognized by the AIA<\/li>\n<li>participating in archaeological fieldwork <u>for the first time<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Incomplete or late applications will NOT be considered by the Selection Committee.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated an interest in AIA Ottawa and its activities such as becoming an AIA student member, attending and\/or volunteering in its activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The recipient of the fellowship agrees to submit a final report on the use of the awarded funds and the impact of the experience (which may be printed on the AIA Ottawa website). Maynard Scholarship<\/h3>\n<p>Through the generosity of the late Harry C. Maynard, for many years a teacher of Classics at the University of Toronto Schools, a program of scholarship assistance for students of Classics has been established by the Trustees of Mr. Maynard\u2019s estate. The deadline of November 1st, 2024 has passed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontarioclassicalassociation.ca\/scholarships\/\">Click here<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<h3>The Desmond Conacher Scholarship<\/h3>\n<p>This scholarship is offered in memory of Desmond Conacher, formerly Professor of Classics at Trinity College, Toronto, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and Honorary President of the CAC. The scholarship has been endowed through donations from his family, friends, colleagues, and universities with which he was associated. Its purpose is to assist and encourage a young scholar entering graduate studies in classics. The scholarship is administered by the CAC through its Awards Committee. One award of $4,000 is offered each year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cac-scec.ca\/desmond-conacher-scholarship\/\">More information<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Mosaic Scholarship<\/h3>\n<p>This scholarship seeks to encourage and support students from historically underrepresented groups in Canada, such as visible minorities and indigenous populations, in the discipline of Classics. One award of $500 is offered each year.<\/p>\n<p>Eligibility and criteria: Applicants must identify as an underrepresented group, be Canadian students (citizens or permanent residents) and currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Classics or similar program at a Canadian University. Specializations within the general area of Classics, such as ancient history, ancient philosophy, and classical archaeology are eligible.
