{"id":253,"date":"2014-06-12T17:08:49","date_gmt":"2014-06-12T21:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/grs\/?page_id=253"},"modified":"2025-08-26T14:50:45","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T18:50:45","slug":"archaeological-fieldwork","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/grs\/student-life\/archaeological-fieldwork\/","title":{"rendered":"Archaeological Fieldwork"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Archaeological Fieldwork for Credit<\/h2>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif; color: black;\">Students in Greek and Roman Studies can begin their study of archaeology in the classroom, but can also experience the reality itself by doing archaeological fieldwork, whether an excavation or an archaeological survey, anywhere in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif; color: black;\">Students begin with <b>ARCY\/CLCV1008 &amp; 1009, Introduction to Archaeology I &amp; II<\/b>, which introduce students to the history, theory, and practice of field archaeology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\"><b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif; color: black;\">CLCV 2303 Greek Art and Archaeology<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif; color: black;\">\u00a0and <b>CLCV 2304 Roman Art and Archaeology<\/b>\u00a0give students an background in such things as classical\u00a0vase painting, sculpture, architecture, and town planning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\"><b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif; color: black;\">CLCV 3301 &amp; CLCV 4000 Archaeological Field Word I &amp; II<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif; color: black;\">\u00a0are for-credit courses in which students participate for a minimum of three weeks in the excavation of an archaeological site.
