On Friday, November 22, at 11:35 am in ME 3275, we will host Dr. Patrick Kiely, a renowned expert in wastewater treatment technology.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Dr. Kiely brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this event. He completed his PhD in Microbiology at University College Cork in Ireland and furthered his studies with a postdoctoral fellowship at Penn State University in the United States. His academic background has laid the foundation for his impressive career in environmental microbiology, wastewater treatment innovation, and entrepreneurship. He owns a successful company that focuses on real-time monitoring and optimization of wastewater treatment plants based on the innovative bio-electrode sensor platform he developed. This event presents a unique opportunity for students and faculty to learn from a leader in water technology innovation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><b data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Time and Location:<\/b>\u00a0Friday, November 22, 11:35 am &#8211; 1 pm in ME 3275.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Biography:<\/b> Patrick is passionate about the environment and is focused on providing better decision-making in water and wastewater treatment. He is the CEO and founder of SENTRY (www.sentrywatertech.com). SENTRY is a bio-electrode sensor platform that provides real-time microbial performance monitoring and optimization of anaerobic and aerobic wastewater treatment systems. Patrick is trained as an environmental microbiologist with over 20 years of experience in molecular microbiology, microbial ecology, and next-generation wastewater \/ bio-energy applications.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Abstract:<\/b>\u00a0Over the past 10 years, Canadian companies have succeeded\u00a0in developing world-class technologies and building world-class companies that solve\u00a0some of the world&#8217;s\u00a0most pressing environmental issues. In this presentation,\u00a0we will review a selection of these companies. We will review the companies from a technical perspective and the environmental impact they are making.
