GEOG 3030 URBAN MOBILITY AND THE REVOLUTIONARY CITY: HAVANA FIELD COURSE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

April 26 \u2013 May 9, 2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Havana is the urban seat of the Cuban revolution and one of the world\u2019s most interesting cities. This spring, Carleton students are invited to challenge assumptions and develop a deeper understanding of the Cuban capital through a two week immersive learning experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of fourteen days of site visits, in-class learning, and self-directed research, participants will look closely at the complexities of urban mobility in Cuba\u2019s largest city. Participants will engage with a range of topics, including urban history, urban development, urban transportation, urban culture, and urban equity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students will learn directly from Cuban professors and researchers at the Facultad Latinamericano de Ciencias Socialies (FLACSO<\/a> Cuba), as we spend our time exploring the metropolis and engaging in a diverse range of experiential learning activities.  The final section of the course will involve a field trip to the town of Trinidad<\/a>, in the central Cuban province of Sancta Spiritus.*<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants will earn 0.5 credits at the third-year level. The program is open to undergraduate students with at least third year standing (in some cases, students with other status may be considered).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
