Life-Threatening Emergency

Off-Campus
Go to the nearest hospital emergency department or call 9-1-1 if an ambulance or police services are needed.

The closest hospital emergency room to the University is the Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus, 1053 Carling Ave, Ottawa.

On-Campus

Call the Campus Safety Office by dialing “4444” from any campus telephone or (613) 520-4444 from a cell phone or payphone (free call from any campus payphone) to co-ordinate 9-1-1 Emergency Response.

Urgent Medical Problem

When HCS is Open
When HCS is open, please contact the clinic at 613-520-6674 if you’re in crisis and need urgent care, or come directly to the clinic at 2600 Carleton Technology & Training Centre. Parking is located on Raven Road and University Drive. See HCS clinic hours.

When HCS is Closed
If you have an urgent medical problem that cannot wait until the Health and Counselling Services (HCS) clinic is open:

  • find a local Urgent Care Clinic with extended hours
  • find a local emergency room (The closest hospital emergency room to the University is the Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus, 1053 Carling Ave, Ottawa.)

Urgent Mental Health Problem

When HCS is Open
Come to the HCS clinic at 2600 Carleton Technology & Training Centre. If you are in crisis or your needs are urgent, please inform a staff member at the reception desk.

When HCS is Closed

Sexual Assault

In the event that you or someone you know is sexually assaulted, please do the following:

  • Get to a safe place first.
  • Do not shower or change your clothes.
  • Call someone you would like to have with you.
  • Call the Campus Safety Office by dialing “4444” from any campus telephone or (613) 520-4444 from a cell phone or pay phone (free call from any campus pay phone) to co-ordinate 9-1-1 Emergency Response.
  • Go to Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus Emergency Dept. on Carling Avenue for the Sexual Assault/Partner Abuse Program.
  • If you are not ready to speak to the police, call HCS to determine the best plan for taking care of yourself. For counselling services when HCS is closed, call the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre at (613) 562-2333.
  • Contact HCS for follow-up counselling or other assistance at (613) 520-6674.

Domestic Violence

When HCS is Open
Get immediate medical attention. Come to the HCS clinic at 2600 Carleton Technology & Training Centre. Parking and the main level entrance is located on Raven Road.

When HCS is Closed
Get immediate medical attention.

On-Campus
