Melissa Philpott is the Intake Counsellor for Health and Counselling Services. Through the intake process, Melissa’s role is to connect students with a counsellor and/or any additional resources along with providing crisis counselling as needed. Melissa uses a strength-based, anti-oppression/anti-racist, harm-reduction, narrative, solution-focused and structural approach when providing support for students in distress. Her goal is to reduce barriers impacting social determinants of health by connecting students with support services to meet their unique needs. Melissa is passionate about supporting students with the ability to fully enjoy and participate in their post-secondary experience while studying at Carleton University.
