Role: Indigenous Cultural Counsellor

Professional Designation: Certified Canadian Counsellor, C.C.C, Registered Psychotherapist, RP,

As a member of the Centre for Indigenous Initiatives and Health and Counselling, Staci splits her time between providing one on one counselling to Indigenous students and being present in Ojigkwanong (Indigenous Student Resource Centre). Her role is also to provide wellness support to Indigenous students through workshops, groups/circles and culturally based activities.
As a psychotherapist, she hopes to meet students where they are and together work to attain a more balanced physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. She achieves this by integrating elements of traditional Indigenous knowledge with contemporary theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapies and Experiential therapies.

Staci has been working with the urban Indigenous community in Ottawa for almost 10 years and enjoys exploring the role Intergenerational trauma plays in our day to day challenges.
