<a href=\"https:\/\/graduate.carleton.ca\/international\/english-second-language\/\">full details here<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-should-i-include-in-the-statement-of-intent-document-of-the-application\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-should-i-include-in-the-statement-of-intent-document-of-the-application\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What should I include in the Statement of Intent document of the application?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-should-i-include-in-the-statement-of-intent-document-of-the-application\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>Your Statement of Intent should consist of two parts:<\/p>\n<p>1 &#8211; A 750 word Statement of Intent that indicates how you envision the program will help further your career goals.\u00a0 It will be used to assess the program&#8217;s ability to meet those goals and will help determine if this program is a good fit for you.<\/p>\n<p>2 &#8211; A 1000 word Statement of Experience detailing your specific skills in research design, analysis, and writing; your ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams; and your previous experience that will ensure your success in this interdisciplinary program.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-gpa-should-i-have-to-be-considered-for-the-program\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-gpa-should-i-have-to-be-considered-for-the-program\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What GPA should I have to be considered for the program?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-gpa-should-i-have-to-be-considered-for-the-program\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>All applicants must have a minimum Grade Point Average of 9.0\/12.0 (B+ average) over the last 2 years of full time study, to be considered for the program.\u00a0 However, the MSc in HSTP program is highly competitive and thus most of our successful applicants will have a GPA closer to a 10.0 (A-).<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-when-is-the-deadline-for-applications\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-when-is-the-deadline-for-applications\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">When is the deadline for applications?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-when-is-the-deadline-for-applications\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>The MSc in HSTP is a 20 month program for which we only admit students once per year, in the Fall term.\u00a0 The preliminary deadline is February 1st, from which we will fill most of our available spaces.\u00a0 The online application system will remain open until August 1st, however remaining spaces will be very limited..<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-do-i-need-to-submit-my-gre-score-with-my-application\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-do-i-need-to-submit-my-gre-score-with-my-application\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Do I need to submit my GRE score with my application?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-do-i-need-to-submit-my-gre-score-with-my-application\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>GRE scores are not required for applications to the graduate programs in the Department of Health Sciences<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-do-i-need-to-submit-official-transcripts-with-my-application\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-do-i-need-to-submit-official-transcripts-with-my-application\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Do I need to submit official transcripts with my application?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-do-i-need-to-submit-official-transcripts-with-my-application\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>Official transcripts (and\/or WES evaluations) are not required at the time of the application.\u00a0 Applicants must scan copies of their original transcripts and upload them to their online application.\u00a0 If an applicant is successful, a conditional offer of admission will be given, and candidates must make arrangements to have officially conferred degrees and transcripts (or WES evaluations) sent directly to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs prior to enrollment in their graduate program.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-i-have-been-working-in-the-health-sector-for-several-years-do-my-references-need-to-be-academic\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-i-have-been-working-in-the-health-sector-for-several-years-do-my-references-need-to-be-academic\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">I have been working in the health sector for several years. Do my references need to be academic?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-i-have-been-working-in-the-health-sector-for-several-years-do-my-references-need-to-be-academic\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>Applicants who have been in the work force for a number of years may choose to provide professional referees.\u00a0 Keeping in mind that academic references are typically preferred, as there are questions on the referee form that refer to the applicants skills and experience as an academic student.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-do-i-need-to-have-taken-a-specific-statistics-course-in-order-to-apply\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-do-i-need-to-have-taken-a-specific-statistics-course-in-order-to-apply\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Do I need to have taken a specific statistics course in order to apply?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-do-i-need-to-have-taken-a-specific-statistics-course-in-order-to-apply\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>The statistics course must have been taken at the university, and must have been taken for the duration of one full academic term.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-can-i-complete-the-msc-in-hstp-on-a-part-time-basis\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-can-i-complete-the-msc-in-hstp-on-a-part-time-basis\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Can I complete the MSc in HSTP on a part-time basis?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-can-i-complete-the-msc-in-hstp-on-a-part-time-basis\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>No, the MSc in HSTP is a 20 month program that cannot be completed on a part-time basis.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-on-average-how-many-students-do-you-admit-into-the-msc-in-hstp-each-year\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-on-average-how-many-students-do-you-admit-into-the-msc-in-hstp-each-year\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">On average, how many students do you admit into the MSc in HSTP each year?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-on-average-how-many-students-do-you-admit-into-the-msc-in-hstp-each-year\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>The MSc in HSTP is a competitive program that admits on average 10-15 students per year.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-academic-background-is-required-to-apply-for-the-msc-in-hstp\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-academic-background-is-required-to-apply-for-the-msc-in-hstp\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What academic background is required to apply for the MSC in HSTP?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-academic-background-is-required-to-apply-for-the-msc-in-hstp\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>We encourage, and accept, students from a wide range of academic backgrounds, and it is not an admission requirement to have a science degree.\u00a0 All applicants must have completed at least a 4 year (honours) bachelors degree to be considered for the program, and we welcome applications from those with a unique and diverse background.\u00a0\u00a0It is important that we admit students with various skillsets and expertise, as this helps increase the interdisciplinary nature of our collaborative program.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-am-i-required-to-find-a-supervisor-prior-to-my-application\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-am-i-required-to-find-a-supervisor-prior-to-my-application\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Am I required to find a supervisor prior to my application?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-am-i-required-to-find-a-supervisor-prior-to-my-application\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>Applicants for the MSC in HSTP program do not need to find a research supervisor prior to the application.\u00a0 The topics and supervisors of the Interdisciplinary Health Research Projects (HLTH 5504 \/ 5505) will vary from year to year.\u00a0 As such, applicants must review the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/healthsciences\/health-sciences\/graduate\/msc-in-health-sciences\/admissions-msc-in-health-sciences\/msc-in-hstp-proposed-research-projects\/\">proposed list of projects<\/a>, and provide a ranking of their top 3 projects at the time of the application.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-am-i-required-to-have-completed-an-undergraduate-thesis-to-be-eligible-to-apply\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-am-i-required-to-have-completed-an-undergraduate-thesis-to-be-eligible-to-apply\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Am I required to have completed an undergraduate thesis to be eligible to apply?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-am-i-required-to-have-completed-an-undergraduate-thesis-to-be-eligible-to-apply\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>No this is not a requirement, however this is asset that would prepare you for the research and data analysis required of the Interdisciplinary Health Research Project (HLTH 5504 \/ 5505).<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-will-there-be-available-funding\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-will-there-be-available-funding\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Will there be available funding?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-will-there-be-available-funding\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">At this time, offers of admission to the MSc in HSTP do not include any type of funding.
