Some of these include the <a href=\"https:\/\/science.carleton.ca\/students\/undergraduate-student-summer-research-opportunities\/black-and-indigenous-summer-research-internships\/\">Black and Indigenous Summer Research Internship (BISRI)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/science.carleton.ca\/students\/undergraduate-student-summer-research-opportunities\/deans-summer-research-internships\/\">Dean Summer Research Internship (DSRI)<\/a>, Health Sciences Research Internship (HSRI), BIPOC HSRI, and <a href=\"https:\/\/science.carleton.ca\/students\/undergraduate-student-summer-research-opportunities\/undergraduate-research-awards-program\/\">NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA)<\/a>. If you would like to gain research experience that complements your studies in an academic setting, these competitive awards can provide you with financial support.<\/p>\n<p>While the application process, award value, award duration, and student eligibility vary across the awards, they all have one thing in common \u2013 you\u00a0<strong>first<\/strong>\u00a0need to approach a faculty supervisor <em>who is accepting students <\/em>to inquire if they will be your sponsor for the award and mentor during the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Please follow the instructions below before contacting faculty:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read<\/strong> the list of Health Sciences faculty who will be accepting applications for the 2026 summer student research opportunities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Utkarsh Dang\u00a0 (BIPOC HSRI, HSRI)<\/li>\n<li>Francine Darroch\u00a0 (BIPOC HSRI, HSRI)<\/li>\n<li>Joerg Overhage (NSERC-USRA)<\/li>\n<li>Renate Ysseldyk (BIPOC HSRI, HSRI)<\/li>\n<li>Kristin Connor (BIPOC HSRI, HSRI)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Identify<\/strong> who you may want to reach out to by reviewing their websites &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/healthsciences\/faculty-and-research\/\">https:\/\/carleton.ca\/healthsciences\/faculty-and-research\/\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Contact<\/strong> a prospective faculty supervisor by email.
