Lunchtime Soccer

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

The Healthy Workplace soccer league is intended for Carleton University staff and faculty. Anyone who is currently registered as a student at Carleton (including TAs and RAs) is welcome to participate in Intramural Soccer or the Ravens Adult Mixed Soccer League. If you have questions about your eligibility for the HWP soccer league, please email healthyworkplace@cunet.carleton.ca

Healthy Workplace Soccer will continue into the Fall 2023 Semester.

As a Healthy Workplace sponsored event, soccer is FREE for all faculty and staff community members. Join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00pm – 1:00pm. This intermediate, co-ed, pick-up style league is open to all Carleton staff and faculty. The games will be held outdoors at the Raven’s Road field (spring/summer) and in the Fieldhouse (fall/winter).

We are committed to providing a friendly and safe atmosphere, and a positive experience for all of our lunchtime league participants. The main goal of Healthy Workplace lunchtime soccer is to have fun. Members must always remember that this is a recreational league and there is no reason to have aggressive play.

It is expected that all players abide by the Spirit of Competition: respecting the rules, respecting your opponents and maintaining your self-control at all times. Every participant plays an active role in upholding the spirit.

All players are required to register (see instructions below) as well as read the Code of Conduct below, before participating in Healthy Workplace lunchtime soccer. By participating in Healthy Workplace lunchtime soccer, players are agreeing to the waiver and Code of Conduct.

Code of Conduct

  • It is recognized that incidental contact between players is inevitable – however, all players should go out of their way to avoid creating unsafe play.
  • Any unsportsmanlike conduct may result in immediate expulsion from the league.  This includes, physical or rough play that endangers the safety of an opponent, slide-tackling, committing a foul in a reckless manner (using excessive force, dangerous contact to the head or committing a tackle leading with your studs), verbal abuse and/or damage to facility property. Fighting will result in immediate expulsion from the league.
  • Play that is rough or overtly aggressive, taunting, or un-sportsmanlike acts (name calling, threats and intimidation) will not be tolerated by Healthy Workplace. If reports of this kind of behavior are received, the following steps are taken:
    • First report (Feedback) – player receives a verbal warning.
    • Second report (Warning) – player receives a second warning verbally and in writing (email).
    • Third report (Suspension) – player is ejected from the league for one month
