\n Sewing Workshops: Hosted by the School of Industrial Design\n <\/h1>\n \n \n \n\n

Interested in learning to sew? This lunch-hour beginner sewing workshop is the perfect place to start! <\/p>\n\n\n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

Healthy Workplace is collaborating with Carleton’s School of Industrial Design to offer two sewing workshops to staff and faculty. Workshops will take place over lunch hour (12:00pm – 1:00pm) and will be hosted by Heather, a local designer and S.I.D. Laboratory technician and held in the School of Industrial Design Soft Lab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few important items to note:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Materials and supplies will be provided<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Some finishing touches may have to be completed at home<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The soft lab is wheelchair accessible via the Architecture building access level 3<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The lab space is temperature controlled but does run on the warmer side<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Light refreshments and snacks will be provided<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Please note: space is limited<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    Due to the space and equipment within the lab, we can only accommodate 7 participants <\/strong>per workshop. In order to ensure that more people can participate in this offering, we ask that you please choose which of the two workshops you would like to attend. A waitlist will be created for each of the workshops, and should a space open up, those on the waitlist will be contacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Learn to Sew: Hair Scrunchie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    August 4, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Join us for a beginner-friendly sewing workshop and learn the basics of using a sewing machine and fabric properties while creating your own hair scrunchie! No previous sewing experience is required, and everyone is welcome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Learn to Sew: Pin Cushion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    August 13, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine or are looking to build on your skills, this beginner-friendly workshop is for you! Join local designer and School of Industrial Design Laboratory Technician, Heather, in the S.I.D. Soft Lab to learn sewing machine basics while creating your own pin cushion!<\/p>\n\n\n
