What is your favourite thing about the program?

The eclectic pool of professors that Carleton contracts both full and part time. They all carry a unique approach to lecturing and knowledge, allowing us students to engage in a variety of discursive methods for education. Big shoutout to Tanya for being an absolute gem for running the department with grace and care.

What will you miss the most?

I miss my professors more than anything. Their ability to engage in a curious and stimulating manner was invaluable for young students such as myself. Personal shoutout to Professors Johnston, Diptee, Kovalio, and Leddy for always encouraging their students to grow intellectual both in and out of the classroom. Lastly, the feeling of handing in a well written paper you wrote the night before is a bittersweet piece of undergrad nostalgia.

What is your favourite reading/book/text from the program?

Obviously there are many. Here are just a few of my favourites:
– A History of the Middle East, Cleveland & Bunton
– The Voyage of Pedro Alvares Cabral to Brazil & India
– Seven Myths of the Spanish Conquest, Matthew Restall
– Book 3 of The Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith

What’s next for you?

Well, I aim to continue my growth in academia by doing an MA and eventually a PhD. However, a year off before enrolling in the former is well earned after a long 4 years. Following these great 4 years at Carleton, I’m excited to see what the future holds for me.
