What is your favourite thing about the program?
The history department here at Carleton has some of the most friendliest and easy-going professors and supporting staff I have ever met. They are genuinely interested in your academic success and are willing to help as long as you are willing to ask. They make the program an amazing experience.
What will you miss the most?
I’m going to really miss having Tanya help me with my timetable and overall academic decisions. One of my favourite people in the department, she was always there to answer my questions to help understand my audit and how I could shape my degree to get what I wanted/needed. I recommend to all history students to book an appointment with her!
What is your favourite reading/book/text from the program?
Co. Aytch: A Confederate Memoir of the Civil War by Sam R. Watkins. Read this for my FYSM on the American Civil War and it provides an interesting perspective.
When Asia was the World by Stewart Gordon. I enjoyed reading the various stories of traders and merchants.
What’s next for you?
I will be continuing my education with an MA at Carleton where I will be studying Canadian Alcohol.
