What is your favourite thing about the program?

History has been the “fun” part of my undergraduate! I have truly enjoyed taking classes out of interest and learning more of the history related to the spaces and institutions I occupy. I also love the passion of history students at Carleton!

What will you miss the most?

I will miss the quirky personalities, the deep love of history that everyone in this program possesses, and the weird historical anecdotes that bring the discipline to life! I will also miss the kind guidance of many of my professors, especially Professor Norman Hillmer for parsing the many many pages of my HRE.

What is your favourite reading/book/text from the program?

I really enjoyed “Europe’s Long Century” by Di Scala, as it was part of the history courses that sparked by interest in the field, and all of the wonderful texts recommended to me by Professor Hillmer on Canadian history!

What’s next for you?

I am currently working in the Government of Canada and intend to return for a Master’s Degree in Migration and Diaspora Studies in Fall 2022
