What is your favourite thing about the program?

The Department of History at Carleton has provided me with endless opportunities to develop and pursue my interests since day one. Every staff and faculty member makes student experience a priority and I felt valued because of that. I definitely wouldn’t be where or who I am now without the immense support I’ve gotten from all of the wonderful people at the Department!

What will you miss the most?

I’ll miss the sense of community the Department of History provided. I felt so connected to Carleton, fellow History students, and the wider Department, from which I benefitted immensely. Most of all I’ll miss the support of Prof. Susan Whitney and Tanya Schwartz—they have been massive helps in my journey through undergrad!

What is your favourite reading/book/text from the program?

Orientalism by Edward Saïd

What’s next for you?

In Fall 2022, I’m beginning my MA Public History at the University of Western Ontario where I hope to enrich my existing professional and academic experience in the field, as well as write a thesis on the consequences of British colonialism on museums and public archaeology in Malta and Jordan. I hope to study for a PhD in Public Archaeology afterwards and continue to work in archaeology and museums throughout the Mediterranean, largely supporting decolonisation initiatives, finds labs, and archaeological collections.
