What is your favourite thing about the program?

The diversity and ability to learn about so many different things. BGINS really helped open up so many doors for me and piqued my interest in various subjects. I was able to focus on what I loved, which was History and still be able to cover other valuable subject areas.

What will you miss the most?

Seeing my friends and “studying” at the library but we all know it was just a great hangout spot. Definitely going to miss the river and just the peaceful ambiance of Carleton U.

What is your favourite reading/book/text from the program?

In HIST 3109, we read Rod Phillips’ Alcohol: A History. It was so interesting learning about the history of alcohol, something that seems so menial but has so much history and significance behind it. It was great learning about how some alcohols came to be, the religious connotations behind each and the negative aspects of it too.

What’s next for you?

I’m currently working at a non-profit and loving it! I want to go into teaching and keep working in the non-profit sector as well! I love working with people and students and see a future in this field. I also want to travel once COVID is over (whenever that is!).
