As an organization supposedly focused on fostering friendships instead of sexual connections (but doubtless still a place where sexual encounters occurred), the tension between these two facets of identity was high. I will use a variety of visual, textual, and oral sources to reconstruct the strain between sexuality and respectability in Arcadie, as well as how these multiple spheres of existence may have influenced the sexual revolution that occurred in the 1980s. I will also create an online repository of the lived experiences of the members of Arcadie, serving as an online archive for other scholars working in the field of the history of French sexuality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":212,"featured_media":27201,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"cu_people_first_name":"Fionnuala","cu_people_last_name":"Braun","cu_people_initials":"FB","footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"cu_people_type":[101,99],"cu_people_expertise":[],"class_list":["post-26144","cu_people","type-cu_people","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","cu_people_type-grad-student","cu_people_type-ma-student"],"acf":{"cu_people_job_title":"Candidate, M.A. History","cu_people_degree":"B.A (Hons.) in History (University of Saskatchewan) ","cu_building":"","cu_people_office_num":"","cu_people_pronoun":"","cu_people_designation":"","cu_people_email":"fionnualabraun@cmail.carleton.ca","cu_people_phone":"","cu_people_phone_ext":"","cu_people_linkedin":"","cu_people_bluesky":"","cu_people_twitter":"","cu_people_instagram":"","cu_people_facebook":"","cu_people_website":"","cu_people_orcid":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people\/26144","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/cu_people"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/212"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people\/26144\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":27202,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people\/26144\/revisions\/27202"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/27201"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=26144"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"cu_people_type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people_type?post=26144"},{"taxonomy":"cu_people_expertise","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_people_expertise?post=26144"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
