Three of the four Carleton nominees are in the English non-fiction category and one nominee is in French non-fiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the English non-fiction nominees is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/417411\/fight-to-the-finish-by-tim-cook\/9780143189558\/\"><em>Fight to the Finish: Canadians in the Second World War, 1944-1945<\/em><\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/people\/tim-cook\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tim Cook,<\/a> a historian at the Canadian War Museum and an adjunct research professor of History in Carleton\u2019s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The book is the second volume of a two-part series and tells the stories of Canadians both overseas and at home. Cook is a past winner of the Ottawa Book Award for his non-fiction book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/Sharp-End-One-Canadians-1914-1916\/dp\/0670067342\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>At the Sharp End: Canadians Fighting the Great War<\/em><\/a>, which won in 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"240\" height=\"334\" src=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/NH1Book-cover-Norman-Hillmer-for-web-400x556-240x334.jpg\" alt=\"book cover of O.D. Skelton: A Portrait of Canadian Ambition by Norman Hillmer\" class=\"wp-image-15484\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/NH1Book-cover-Norman-Hillmer-for-web-400x556-240x334.jpg 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/NH1Book-cover-Norman-Hillmer-for-web-400x556-160x222.jpg 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/NH1Book-cover-Norman-Hillmer-for-web-400x556.jpg 400w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/NH1Book-cover-Norman-Hillmer-for-web-400x556-360x500.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another nominee from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in the English non-fiction division is <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/people\/norman-hillmer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Norman Hillmer<\/a> for his book <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/2015\/historys-norman-hillmer-releases-definitive-biography-on-formative-public-servant-o-d-skelton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>O.D. Skelton: A Portrait of Canadian Ambition<\/em><\/a>. Hillmer is a Chancellor\u2019s Professor in History and International Affairs. The biography examines the life of Skelton, a professor and exceptional public servant who made his mark in Canadian foreign affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winning publications will be revealed on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at Ottawa City Hall.
