<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">The James Beard Awards, sometimes called &#8220;the Oscars of the food world,&#8221;&nbsp;are awarded for excellence in cuisine, culinary writing, and culinary education. &nbsp;The awards are voted on by more than 600 culinary professionals, and winners will be announced in New York City on 25 April, 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"color: black;\">French Wine: A History<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: black;\"> has already won an award at the Gourmand Awards in China.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rod Phillips&#8216;s book, French Wine: A History (published last October by University of California Press), has been short-listed (with two other books) for a 2017&nbsp;James Beard Award.&nbsp;
