Learn more about the book through Prof. Jangam&#8217;s interview with the Indian Cultural Forum &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/indianculturalforum.in\/2018\/04\/24\/dalit-memory-imagination-and-the-nationalist-narrative\/\">Dalit Memory, Imagination and the Nationalist Narrative<\/a>&#8221; where he speaks about Dalits and their experiences with caste discrimination and oppression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The book was also recently launched at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dal.ca\/news\/events\/2018\/03\/01\/dalits_and_the_making_of_modern_india.html\">Dalhousie University in Halifax<\/a> in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>About the book<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This book reformulates the meaning of nationalism in India by focusing on Dalit imagination and politics during the nationalist movement. Dalits, as marginalized subjects, envisioned themselves as equal citizens and demanded justice, equality, and dignity as preconditions for independence.
