The goal of the site is to interview the world\u2019s leading experts in all areas, whether that be the world\u2019s leading psychologists, philosophers or perhaps a freestyle rap battle champion. Experts are then given a chance to discuss their interests and recommend books that have a profound influence for them. Before joining Carleton, Daniel McNeil served as the Ida B. Wells-Barnett Professor of African and Black Diaspora Studies at DePaul University in Chicago and taught Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Hull and Newcastle University in the United Kingdom.&nbsp;McNeil\u2019s award-winning research contributes to the multidisciplinary, transdisciplinary and antidisciplinary analysis of the African and Black Diaspora.&nbsp;He is also the author of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/gp\/product\/0415893917?ie=UTF8&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1634&amp;creative=6738&amp;tag=therealis0d-20&amp;creativeASIN=0415893917\"><em>Sex and Race in the Black Atlantic: Mulatto Devils and Multiracial Messiahs<\/em><\/a>, which is the first volume in Routledge\u2019s series on the African and Black Diaspora, and disrupts regimes of representation that frame \u201cmixed-race\u201d subjects as pathological objects or \u201cnew\u201d national icons for the twenty-first century. Daniel McNeil is currently a Visiting Professor in the Department of Humanities and the Harriet Tubman Institute for Research on Africa and its Diasporas at York University.
