May 2, 2019 \u2013 Da Vinci on Stage at the Canada Science and Technology Museum<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I am reaching out to you today on behalf of the Museum to share with you some information on our upcoming panel discussion on Leonardo da Vinci<\/a>, taking place on the evening of Thursday, May 2. In commemoration of the 500th anniversary of da Vinci’s death, we will be examining some of his most famous works in their historical context, as well as exploring how his legacy continues to impact how we view the world today. A leading da Vinci researcher from the Galileo Museum in Italy will be giving a presentation showcasing his recreation of da Vinci’s models, followed by a panel discussion with two amazing speakers from uOttawa and Carleton University. There will also be an opportunity for further discussion through a question and answer period during the evening to broaden the scope of our exploration of da Vinci.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students can use the discount code SALAI in order to get 30% off their tickets. Faculty members at Carleton can use the code CARLETON500 to receive the same discount on their tickets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May 4, 2019 \u2013 \u201cMemories of Mogadishu Conference\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In partnership with the Ottawa Art Gallery, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), MCIS Language Solutions, the Catholic Centre for Immigrants, Carleton University, TakingITGlobal and Concordia University, this conference will explore the use of oral history and digital archives in preserving cultural heritage and collective memory in post-conflict societies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join us at the Ottawa Art Gallery on May 4th, 2019 from 9:30AM to 5:00PM<\/strong> as we bring together Somali diaspora from around the world to explore the use of oral history, memory, and migration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
