You can confirm first day information and logistics (office location, start time, dress code, what to bring, etc.) directly with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On your first day, you will receive a department orientation (workstation information, team introduction, and department overview) from your new manager and team. Your manager will also be in touch with you to welcome you to the team, and you can confirm first day information and logistics (office location, dress code, what to bring, etc.) directly with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"hr-orientation-session\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">HR Orientation Session<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We will contact you with the specific date and time of your orientation session\u2014in most cases, it will be the Monday of or prior to your first day of work. This orientation session is hosted by a member of our Talent Acquisition team and serves as an opportunity to meet other new hires while learning about various departments, services, and resources on campus. We also review mandatory training requirements, campus safety, and other important information to help you get started at Carleton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Due to COVID-19, we are currently conducting all orientations virtually.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>View the<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/hr\/file\/orientation-presentation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">presentation slides here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"department-orientation-onboarding\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Department Orientation &amp; Onboarding<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After completing your HR Orientation Session, you will then head over to the office of your new team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon arrival, you will receive a department orientation (workstation information, team introduction, and department overview) from your new manager and team. Over the next few weeks and months, they will also be supporting your overall onboarding process to ensure you are successful in your new role!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"university-onboarding\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"timeline\"><\/a>University Onboarding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a new employee to Carleton, we want to ensure that you have a proper onboarding experience. This will ensure that you are properly set up for success in your new role, and that you become a key member of Carleton&#8217;s community and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The full Onboarding process normally takes place over your first year of employment at Carleton. Here is a timeline of Onboarding initiatives (and their associated timeframes) that you are strongly encouraged to participate in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"within-first-month\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Within First Month<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"mandatory-training\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mandatory Training<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Carleton staff and faculty are required to take a number of <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/learninganddevelopment\/mandatory-training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mandatory training<\/a> courses on the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Accessibility,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preventing Workplace Violence and Harassment, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Environmental Health and Safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"carleton-compass\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Carleton Compass<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/healthy-workplace\/carleton-compass-onboarding-program\/\">Carleton Compass<\/a> is a new program developed by Healthy Workplace and the Office of Quality Initiatives, and seeks to pair all new hires with a Navigator<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigators&nbsp;are enthusiastic ambassadors of&nbsp;Carleton University&nbsp;who&nbsp;welcome and&nbsp;assist new colleagues in learning the Carleton culture&nbsp;in an informal&nbsp;setting,&nbsp;share information&nbsp;about Carleton\u2019s&nbsp;facilities and&nbsp;resources, encourage&nbsp;their new&nbsp;co-workers to take advantage of services, and&nbsp;contribute to a&nbsp;sense of belonging.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Navigator\u2019s perspective provides a&nbsp;customized&nbsp;\u201cinside look\u201d at Carleton&nbsp;and their favourite spots&nbsp;and \u201chidden gems\u201d&nbsp;on campus.&nbsp;They will become a&nbsp;familiar face&nbsp;for the new employee&nbsp;and a resource they can turn to with questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Building on the existing&nbsp;Healthy&nbsp;Workplace culture,&nbsp;the Carleton Compass&nbsp;will create a sense of inclusion and belonging in the new employee,&nbsp;as well as allow&nbsp;existing&nbsp;Carleton&nbsp;faculty and staff&nbsp;the chance&nbsp;to share their institutional knowledge and experience with others by participating as Navigators, further strengthening their&nbsp;Carleton pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are a new hire at Carleton, your Navigator should be reaching out to you shortly after your hire date!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"within-first-3-months\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Within First 3 Months<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>How are decisions made at Carleton? Who is the Chancellor of Carleton? What role does the Board of Governors play at Carleton? We\u2019ll review example expense reports, the app and there will be time to ask questions.
