As an essential and exciting component of curatorial training, it offers hands-on work experience in a gallery, museum, archive or other cultural institution. For the motivated student, this immersion in a work environment can provide opportunities for networking, creating strong collegial relationships and easing the transition from academia to a job you have trained for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carleton\u2019s strong and dynamic partnerships with local institutions in a wide number of fields is unique.&nbsp; Situated in the National Capital Region, Ottawa-Gatineau provides exceptional access for cultural work experience at all levels \u2014 municipal, provincial, national and international.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"not-prose cu-quote cu-component-spacing\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>With the addition of a Curatorial Studies Diploma, Carleton\u2019s Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Culture will surely develop capable and well-rounded students of high value to employers in the National Capital Region, and across Canada. \u2013&nbsp;<strong>Guy Berthiaume, Librarian and Archivist of Canada, Library and Archives Canada<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The Curatorial Program takes advantage of this geographic situation at every opportunity. A Partnerships and Placement Coordinator is available to find creative solutions with students in defining their projects and arranging placements that are best suited for the student, the institution and Carleton University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The projects span museum management, exhibition preparation and research, educational programming and film archiving.&nbsp;Partnering institutions have included&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallery.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Gallery of Canada<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.historymuseum.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Canadian Museum of History<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bac-lac.gc.ca\/eng\/Pages\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Library and Archives Canada<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ottawaartgallery.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ottawa Art Gallery<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nature.ca\/en\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Canadian Museum of Nature<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cuag.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carleton University Art Gallery<\/a>.
