The 2019-2020 Program Requirements apply to students admitted in the Fall of 2019.

Students who were admitted prior to Fall of 2019 need to check the archived Undergraduate Calendar of the year they were admitted.

B.A. HONOURS IN CHILDHOOD AND YOUTH STUDIES
YEAR 1
Required Course 1.0 credit CHST 1003 Introduction to Childhood and Youth Studies
Suggested Elective 1.0 credit HIST (1000 level)
Suggested Electives 1.0 credit SOCI 1001 & SOCI 1002 OR ANTH 1001 & ANTH 1002
1.0 credit to satisfy Breadth requirements.
1.0 credit electives outside of Major requirements
YEAR 2
Required Course – 0.5 credit CHST 2001 Experiential Learning in Childhood and Youth Studies
Required Course – 0.5 credit CHST 2003 Introduction to Research Methods in Childhood and Youth Studies
Suggested Elective – 0.5 credit HIST (2000 level, if you have not completed a 1000 level HIST) Please note this is a Pre-Requisite for 3rd year HIST course
3.5 elective credit: (Complete your Breadth requirements and begin required courses for a minor)
YEAR 3
Required Course – 0.5 credit CHST 3103 Critical Approaches to Child Development
Required Course – 0.5 credit CHST 3303 Children’s Rights
Required Course – 0.5 credit CHST 3302 Children, Policy, and Practice
Required Courses – 1.0 credit from CHST 3000, CHST 3201, CHST 3202, or CHST 3003
Required Course – 0.5 credit from CHST 3203, CHST 3304, HIST 3115, CHST 4003, CHST 3002, CHST 4004, or SOCI 3300
2.0 elective credit (Continue working on minor requirements)
Must take CHST 3101 and complete elective requirement in 4th year if you wish to complete an Honours Research Project
