Co-operative Education combines traditional, in-class education with hands-on experience. Co-op students alternate study terms at Carleton with four, eight, twelve or sixteen month work terms.<\/p>\n
Co-operative Education is the opportunity to get a head start on a career. Co-op work terms allow for the development of key employability skills, exploration of\u00a0career options and graduation with tangible, workplace experience\u2014giving students a competitive edge in the job market after graduation.<\/p>\n
Read more<\/a><\/p>\n To graduate with the Co-op Designation, students <\/strong>must satisfy the normal requirements for graduation, as well as the minimum number of full time, paid, minimum of three (3) co-op work terms, in order to receive the Co-op Designation on their final transcript and diploma. Students may not finish their degree on a Co-op work term; rather, they must return to Carleton for at least one final term of full-time study.<\/p>\n Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n The Co-op is currently only available to students in the;<\/p>\n The minimum CGPA permitted by Co-op is 8.0. If assessing the Overall and<\/u> Major CGPA, the Major CGPA <\/em>for Human Rights & Social Justice Majors must be at least 8.0<\/em>, and the Overall CGPA must be at least 6.5. <\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Fall term application is open from May 1 until August 31, 2025 while winter term application will be available between September 1 and December 31, 2025;<\/p>\n\n \n\t\tHow to Apply<\/a>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n \n\t\tApply<\/a>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n The Co-op Participation Agreement applies to all students actively participating in the Co-operative Education Program from the time of Co-op admission to the time of graduation. The purpose of the Co-op Participation Agreement is to balance the needs and interests of Co-op students, the Co-op Program, and Co-op employers. Questions about the terms of this agreement should be directed to Co-operative Education.<\/p>\n Read complete rules and regulations here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Participating Co-op students are responsible for paying regular Co-op Program fees and for following the rules and policies outlined in the Co-op Participation Agreement.<\/p>\n During work terms, students are expected to focus on their employment responsibilities and, as such, may register in no more than one 0.5 credit course.<\/strong> To minimize disruption to employers, daytime courses are not to be taken during work terms.<\/p>\n Note:<\/strong> Co-op participation will extend a student\u2019s degree by up to one year.<\/p>\n More information<\/a><\/p>\n The search for a co-op work term is competitive, and there are no guarantees of employment. While Co-operative Education makes every effort to develop enough job opportunities for participating students, the range and volume of positions reflect the realities of the present job market. Employers will select the academic programs from which they wish to hire. The student is responsible for their job search and for reaching out to a Co-op Student Advisor for guidance as necessary.<\/p>\n Co-op students have access to Co-operative Education staff for job search support, resume development, and work term support.<\/p>\n International students who meet the co-op admission requirements for their degree program are welcome to participate in Co-operative Education at Carleton.
