Favourite memory:<\/p>\n

First off, we live on unceded territories. I met up with some students at Mike’s Pub, to speak with one of the coolest profs out there. S\/o to you Pat! We were munching on pakoras, discussing the fruit machine, Franz Fanon, and how much we despise universities that revere colonial figures.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n

My major was human rights & social justice with a minor in philosophy. I switched majors on a very impulsive decision in second year and I’m so glad that I did. The profs in the IIS department are all amazing people and I’m extremely thankful to them for passing on their extensive knowledge to me.<\/p>\n

My favorite memories were all the spirited & thoughtful discussions in the women’s rights course with Dr. Sadaf in third year. By far my favorite course! I’m currently in the process of applying to master’s programs and law schools with the hopes of a career in shaping human rights policy that specifically combats anti-Black racism.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n

I learned we humans are not meant to be solely independent or co-dependent, but we are to be inter-dependent. Judging others for their differences only leads to growing in an individualistic and selective world. Our humanity is at risk and mother nature has been having trouble breathing for the last few decades BECAUSE the voices from racialized communities have been socially excluded and silenced due to their differences. We need to and can do better by learning and unlearning using different knowledges.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n

My favourite memory would hands down be getting to know my classmates. By third year you get to know a lot of your classmates.
