André Plourde (PhD, UBC) is Professor, Department of Economics and Dean, Faculty of Public Affairs, Carleton University. Prior to that, he was on staff at the University of Alberta where he helped launch an MBA specialization in natural resources and energy. Over the years, he has twice taken leave from academic life to work in the federal public service (first with the Department of Finance and then with Natural Resources Canada). André has also served on numerous advisory committees. In 2007, he was appointed to the Province of Alberta’s Royalty Review Panel and was also President of the International Association for Energy Economics during that year. More recently, he was a member of the Royal Society of Canada’s expert panel on the environmental and health impacts of Canada’s oil sands industry. He has published widely in energy demand analysis, Canadian energy policy, Canada-US energy relations, and on linkages between energy and environmental policy.
