They are positive, friendly, and encouraging. As members of the Indigenous Enriched Support Program, their goal is to help you succeed at Carleton University.<\/p>\n<p>Coaches meet with students one-on-one for an hour, offering individual help with challenges that new university students often experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Understanding &amp; getting started with an assignment<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Making a study plan that works for you<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Reading, Writing &amp; Research Skill Building<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Meet the\u00a0 IESP Coach<\/h3>\n<section class=\"content-wrapper content-wrapper--shortcode\"><div class=\"cards-wrapper\"><div class=\"u-post-reload\"><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">IESP Peer Mentors<\/h2>\n<p>Each student in the IESP will be matched with an Indigenous Peer Mentor at the beginning of the school year. You and your mentor will initially meet weekly to get to know each other and come up with a plan to help you be successful at university. After a plan has been set in motion, you will meet with your mentor as needed.<\/p>\n<p>Indigenous Peer Mentors are upper-year Indigenous students who may have completed the IESP program and who have completed the transition into a degree program. They have lots of knowledge about the resources on and off campus and are a great connection to the Indigenous community at Carleton.<\/p>\n<h3>How can the mentors help you?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>to help orient you to the university<\/li>\n<li>to share their stories about how they persevered through first year<\/li>\n<li>to provide you with useful tips on how to have a successful academic year<\/li>\n<li>to direct you to campus resources that you might not know about<\/li>\n<li>to offer a sympathetic ear<\/li>\n<li>to organize social events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information about
