Kinamagawin Indigenous Cultural Awareness Training<\/h3>\n

This training for staff and faculty is designed to provide participants with an introduction to the historic relationship between Indigenous peoples and Canada. Participants will be provided with an overview of appropriate language to use when discussing Indigenous peoples and subjects related to First Nation, Metis and Inuit. The experience of Indigenous students on campus will be discussed, as will particular cultural or spiritual practices which might require accommodation. This training lasts 3 hours and must be booked by emailing indigenous@carleton.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Indigenous Learning Bundle Trainings<\/h3>\n

Designed as both a resource for instructors and learning tool for students to use in the classroom, the Bundles provide the necessary factual and theoretical basis for understanding Indigenous history and politics in Canada, while also prompting students to consider how this knowledge might be applied in their area of study. Most Bundles include a lesson from an Indigenous expert followed by an audio or video interview with an Indigenous Knowledge Keeper.<\/p>\n

The Centre for Indigenous Initiatives, in partnership with the Education Development Centre, provides training on how to appropriately incorporate learning bundles into the classroom. If you are interested in teaching with a Bundle, you can request access by visiting the Bundles website and completing the form at the bottom of the page.
