The Kin\u00e0m\u00e0gawin Report<\/h2>\n

Following the release of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission\u2019s Final Report in 2015, many post-secondary institutions worked to revitalize, support and bring Indigenous learners and Indigenous knowledges into classrooms. In October 2018, Carleton joined this collective movement and formed the Carleton University Strategic Indigenous Initiatives Committee (CUSIIC), which published the Kin\u00e0m\u00e0gawin Report<\/a> in 2020.<\/p>\n

Kin\u00e0m\u00e0gawin<\/em> includes 41 Carleton-specific Calls to Action that encompass an overarching goal of making the Carleton campus a safer space for current and future Indigenous students, staff and faculty members.<\/p>\n\n

Kin\u00e0m\u00e0gawin Progress Report – April 2025<\/h2>\n

The 2025 Kin\u00e0m\u00e0gawin Progress Report<\/a> marks the fifth anniversary of the release of Kin\u00e0m\u00e0gawin<\/a> and highlights the significant collective actions\u00a0 undertaken by colleagues across the University in collaboration with community partners to make Carleton a safe and welcoming space for Indigenous students, staff and faculty. These actions continue to be complemented by a $2.5 million donation from the Joyce Family Foundation\u2014matched by an additional $2.5 million from the University\u2014which has allowed us to mobilize many of our intentions.<\/p>\n\n

The 2024 Kin\u00e0m\u00e0gawin Progress Report<\/a> represents the significant collective actions that have been undertaken to address the 41 Calls to Action since the 2022 progress report. These actions continue to be complemented by a $2.5 million donation from the Joyce Family Foundation\u2014matched by an additional $2.5 million from the University\u2014which has allowed us to mobilize many of our intentions.<\/p>\n\n

The Kin\u00e0m\u00e0gawin Progress Report<\/a> showcases a monumental collective effort across the university to further the goals of the initial Kin\u00e0m\u00e0gawin<\/em> report released in May 2020. These actions have been complemented by a $2.5 mil\u00adlion donation from the Joyce Family Foundation\u2014matched by an additional $2.5 million from the university\u2014which has al\u00adlowed us to mobilize many of our intentions.<\/p>\n

This progress report reinforces our commitment to continuing to make progress on the work that remains to be done. The full implementation of the 41 Kin\u00e0m\u00e0gawin<\/em> calls to action will support positive long-term change at Carleton, and we all have a role to play.<\/p>\n\n
