{"id":1156,"date":"2019-11-24T13:03:38","date_gmt":"2019-11-24T18:03:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/internetofthings\/?p=1156"},"modified":"2020-06-26T15:06:44","modified_gmt":"2020-06-26T19:06:44","slug":"anastassia-gharib-wins-the-2019-ieee-canada-women-in-engineering-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/internetofthings\/2019\/anastassia-gharib-wins-the-2019-ieee-canada-women-in-engineering-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"Anastassia Gharib wins the 2019 IEEE Canada Women In Engineering Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Anastassia Gharib, a PhD candidate, wins the 2019 IEEE Canada Women In Engineering Prize.\u00a0The purpose of IEEE Canada Women In Engineering Prize is\u00a0to recognize excellence in young women engineering professionals and to support the Women In Engineering programme within IEEE in Canada.\u00a0One prize each year with the value $1,000 is awarded.\u00a0Nominations are evaluated based on the substantial success in the academic program, demonstration of interest in extracurricular interests and\u00a0volunteer service to IEEE as well as involvement in either IEEE Young Professionals or WIE programs.\u00a0The Grants Committee of the IEEE Canadian Foundation reviews and ranks the nominations, and forwards their recommendations to the Board of Directors of the IEEE Canadian Foundation, who then determines the recipient at their first meeting of each year, normally held in early April.\u00a0A framed certificate was presented to Anastassia by David Whyte,\u00a0the President of IEEE Canadian Foundation, at the 75th IEEE Ottawa Section Annual General Meeting and Banquet on November 15th, 2019.
