Professor Ibnkahla and the Cisco Chair team gave a presentation and demo of the Carleton-Cisco IoT Testbed to a large audience consisting of academics, researchers, and tech-specialist.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Carleton-Cisco IoT Testbed adopts a layered approach composed of four layers, namely: Sensing layer, Edge computing layer, Fog computing and core network layer, and Cloud layer. The testbed supports the cross-layer nature of the IoT. Besides, it enables system design and data processing at the different IoT layers starting from the sensing layers up to the cloud.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The IoT testbed facilitates the development of tomorrow&#8217;s IoT technology by offering accurate multi-user scientific evaluation tools over heterogeneous networks and technologies. Further, t<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">he implemented testbed considers the complete cycle of IoT application development and deployment, which includes sensing, applications, and middle-layers processing as well as system-level cybersecurity design <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and management.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Carleton-Cisco IoT testbed is built at the Sensor Systems and IoT Lab, Carleton University, under the Cisco Research Chair in Sensor Technology for IoT, and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)\/Cisco Industrial Research Chair in Sensor Networks for IoT, with the support of Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and Ontario Research Fund (ORF).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The presentation was highly valued by the attendees who showed great interest in the IoT testbed and had many good questions at the end of the presentation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Watch the presentation on our channel: <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/6qkWn_sy0Ec\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a><br \/>\nMore details about the IoT Demo found here:\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iccspa2020.com\/iot-testbed-demo.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.iccspa2020.com\/iot-testbed-demo.html<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sensor Systems and The Internet of Things lab led by Professor Mohamed Ibnkahla participated in the International Conference on Communications, Signal Processing, and their Applications (ICCSPA) on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
