The traditional energy grid allows for one-way communication of energy usage between customers and utilities. IoT devices enable a two-way communication system in which utilities themselves can also request actions to reduce or shift consumption, along with sending real-time data about energy consumption and pricing.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers become more informed and therefore\u00a0empowered to make smarter decisions to\u00a0reduce their energy bill.
