About the Infrastructure Resilience Research Group (IRRG)<\/h2>\n

The Infrastructure Resilience Research Group (IRRG) is attached to the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Design at Carleton University. IRRG supports interdisciplinary knowledge-building, applied research, professional training, outreach, and publications related to the protection and resilience of critical infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The Mission<\/h3>\n

The Dean of Engineering and Design at Carleton University has created an Infrastructure Resilience Research Group (IRRG) to advise and promote interdisciplinary knowledge-building initiatives regarding risks and vulnerabilities pertaining to Critical National Infrastructure in an all-hazards environment, including threat assessments, managerial precepts and risk management solutions. This Group will carry out support applied research studies, professional training programs, national and international outreach activities, and publications relating to its mission.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Objectives of IRRG<\/h3>\n

IRRG\u2019s objectives are organized around four core areas that support critical infrastructure protection and resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
1. Critical Infrastructure Protection and Resilience<\/strong><\/p>\n
    \n
  • To promote an all-hazard interdisciplinary approach to addressing critical infrastructure protection and resilience.<\/li>\n
  • To support advanced inter-disciplinary applied research analyzing the threats, risks, vulnerabilities, cyber security concerns, sensors, analytics, managerial solutions, and resilience plans pertaining to critical national infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n
2. Professional Training and Certification<\/strong><\/p>\n
    \n
  • To design and deliver professional training programs for frontline IT engineers, cyber security experts, control room operators, security personnel, managers and executives in government and in critical infrastructure facilities.<\/li>\n
  • To grant certification and accreditation to trainees who have completed approved training courses.<\/li>\n
  • To design and deliver topical professional workshops pertaining to infrastructure protection and resilience for analysts, managers and executives in government and private sector organizations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
3. Knowledge Sharing, Forums, and Publications<\/strong><\/p>\n
    \n
  • To help facilitate information sharing pertaining to critical national infrastructure protection and resilience between and within the public and private sectors.<\/li>\n
  • To convene national conferences and specialized forums to help build knowledge regarding critical infrastructure protection and resilience and foster professional networking amongst stakeholders and the public.<\/li>\n
  • To publish research findings, training manuals, and run Internet forums to disseminate information about critical infrastructure protection and resilience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n
4. Collaboration and Advisory Support<\/strong><\/p>\n
    \n
  • To collaborate in pilot research projects together with industry stakeholders.<\/li>\n
