CCSI Research Fellow <\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Roshan Arah Jahangeer (she\/her\/elle\/li) completed a PhD in Political Science from York University in 2022 and is a Contract Faculty in the School of Gender, Sexuality &amp; Women\u2019s Studies at York University. She was the inaugural Postdoctoral Fellow in Islamophobia in Health Professions Education at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, from 2022- 2023. Her doctoral research explores the transnational circulation of anti-veiling laws between France and Qu\u00e9bec and their impacts on Muslim women in the contexts of secularism, feminism, and Islamophobia. Her current research, \u201cMigrating for Religious Freedom? Studying the Migration Experiences of French and Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois Muslim Women in Canada,\u201d explores the \u2018hijra<\/em>\u2019 (migration) of Muslim women away from France and Quebec to other parts of Canada.<\/p>\n

Dr. Jahangeer\u2019s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and edited collections, such as, the Canadian Journal of Women and the Law<\/a> (2020), Producing Islam(s) in Canada: On Knowledge, Positionality and Politics<\/em> <\/a>(2022), and At the Limits of Justice: Women of Colour on Terror<\/em><\/a> (2014). She has also written op-eds for the Montreal Gazette<\/a> and The Conversation<\/a>.
