The ISSO welcomes all international undergraduate and graduate students beginning their studies at Carleton University in Winter 2021. New students are encouraged to participate in the following events to make connections, learn about the support services available at Carleton, and understand their responsibilities while studying in Canada.

I-Start International Student Orientation: Enrol in this free online mini-course to receive resources and information that will help you transition successfully to student life at Carleton and in Canada. Topics include: ISSO services, the University Health Insurance Plan, immigration advising, student life in Canada, navigating Ottawa, and much more!

Canadian Tea Time: Welcome (Back!) Edition: Canadian Tea Time is your time to unwind with games, friends, and a warm drink. In this special Canadian Tea Time, we will be welcoming new students, playing online games, and answering your questions about the semester ahead. Drop in any time during the 2 hour session to meet other students and win some awesome prizes! Sessions will be held January 13 at 8:30 am and January 14 at 3:30 pm EST. Get To Know the ISSO Conversation Sessions: Meet the friendly staff and volunteers of the International Student Services Office and learn our tips for academic success and living in Canada. Be sure to stick around for our trivia and The Price Is Right games, and a chance to win prizes! Sessions will be held on January 7, January 19, and January 27. Health Insurance Q&A Sessions: International students residing in Canada must have the University Health Insurance Plan. Learn about coverage, providers, and your student union’s Drug and Dental supplemental insurance by attending this event. Managing Your Studies From Abroad: International students studying from overseas may be studying under different circumstances from students living in Canada. This workshop is a space for you to learn about academic, social, and wellness resources available to help you succeed during the Winter 2021 term.
