Do your part in the province-wide effort to stay safe! As of Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 12:01 a.m., the Government of Ontario has enacted a state of emergency and stay at home order which is now in effect for the entire province. This decision was made in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and other health experts, in response to the sustained rise of COVID-19 cases.

The stay at home order requires everyone to remain at home with exceptions for permitted purposes or activities, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services, for exercise or for work where the work cannot be done remotely. Accordingly, in line with provincial regulations during the state of emergency and stay at home order, everyone is asked to limit trips outside of their home.

Additionally, indoor gatherings are not permitted, and outdoor gatherings are limited to a maximum of  five people as long as you can keep two metres of physical distance from each other. Everyone should also wear a mask or face covering.

Expanded enforcement measures for this order include the issuing of tickets to people who do not obey the stay-at-home-order. The province has given authority to Ontario Provincial Police, local police forces, bylaw officers, and provincial workplace inspectors to issue fines and tickets to people and businesses that do not comply with the stay-at-home order.
