UPDATE: In keeping with the February 2nd announcement that the Summer 2021 term at Carleton will be held mostly online, the university has decided that there will be no in-person outbound mobility for students during the summer months.

Study/Research in China, France, Germany, or India for the Summer!
Carleton University is part of a consortium of Ontario Universities International (OUI) that administers student mobility programs. Through OUI, the ISSO offers a number of programs for Carleton students who are interested in studying (SLP- Summer Language/Cultural Program) or performing research (SRP- Summer Research Program) at one of our partner institutions for a number of weeks in the summer term.
Fees are paid to the host institution and not to Carleton University. Students are fully responsible for tuition fees and other associated costs, such as visas, health insurance, accommodations, etc. Scholarships are no longer available to students participating in the summer programs.

Why learning languages is never a waste
Erica participated in the Summer Language Program and traveled to France, where she stayed with a host family and took intensive French courses.
“For me, French class is never just a course with assignments for a final mark anymore. It’s an opportunity to stay connected with host families and French friends.
It opens up the possibility of traveling to a francophone place and being able to understand a culture and people way more than I could without the language.”
– Erica, Summer Language Program Participant, Ontario Rhône-Alpes
