Returning From Exchange
Congratulations on completing your exchange! The Exchange Team has put together the following tips to help you leverage your experience for future success.
- Exchange Transcript
The host institution will send an official copy of your transcript either to the ISSO office or to you directly. If you receive the transcript please make sure to submit a copy to the International Student Services Office at firstname.lastname@example.org. Near the end of your exchange period, make arrangements to have an official transcript sent by your host institution to the International Student Services Office at Carleton by email at email@example.com or by mail to:
International Student Services Office

Please note: We recommend that you request an additional copy for your own records. If you plan on applying to graduate school or other future opportunities, you will want to request an additional copy from your host institution at this time as it may be challenging to acquire copies at a later date.
- Welcome Back Session
A Welcome Back Session is organized for all returning exchange students to give them an opportunity to share their exchange experiences and focus on re-integration.
The session consists of presentations from:
- Career Services – How to leverage your international experience
- Health and Counselling Services – Reverse Culture Shock
- ISSO – 1-2 activities to discuss testimonials
- Volunteer with the ISSO
Your exchange experience does not have to end upon your return to Canada. There is a wide range of opportunities to further your international experience while at Carleton:
- Exchange Information Sessions
- Study Abroad and Exchange Fair
- Peer advisor for students in applying for exchange or and international buddy to new students arriving from all over the world
You will get recognized for volunteering with the ISSO.
Sign up for the Co-curricular Record (CCR) and add yourself as a Student Exchange Ambassador with the International Student Services Office.
