Program: Bachelor of Social Work

Year of Study: 4th year

Places I Call Home: Milton, Ontario, Canada

Campus Involvement: Former Residence Fellow in Glengarry House and the 2019-2020 Vice President of Student Engagement of the Bachelor of Social Work Student Society.

Hobbies: Reading, writing short stories, playing card games (UNO, Speed & President), and swimming.

Best part of being in Ottawa: I love skating on the Rideau Canal when it freezes over in the winter. The length is 7.8 km and it is the world’s largest human-made skating rink. There are various rest stops along the canal to get some snacks such as a Beavertail (a delicious Canadian pastry) and a cup of hot chocolate. When we are back on campus, you can borrow skates through the ISSO to try out this activity for free!

Advice for new international students: Try to get involved on campus and attend virtual programming. It can be challenging to interact with other students because of the year being online, but following Carleton social media pages, taking part in CUSA activities, and attending Canadian Tea Time through the ISSO can be a great way to meet new people and make friends.
