Academic Computing and Web Services worked closely with Student Services to redesign the MyCarleton Portal. This simplified version delivers 1-click sign-on to your web services and distraction-free access to personalized announcements.

This initiative was one of the recommendations of the Student Communication Benchmarking project and was led by the Office of the Associative Vice-President (Students and Enrolment) and supported by a university-wide student communication advisory committee.

So what’s different?

Now, when you login to the portal, you’ll see fewer tabs: My Home and Academic Services. All single-sign-on services—email, Carleton Central, and the Learning Management System (LMS)—are presented in a column on the left hand side, and all work the same way. The rest of the webpage is dedicated to your personalized announcements.

Public links such as the library will now be located on the newly redesigned Current Students page, from which you can also log into the Portal.

These changes are being implemented in response to student feedback provided as part of a student communication benchmarking project that is using student feedback to improve the way the University communicates with students.

Logging into the Portal

Students can login from the Current Student website where login fields are prominently displayed at the top of the page.

Faculty and staff will login from the Faculty and Staff Homepage website, which is currently being redesigned based on feedback received.

This change allows university community members to view public news, important links and events without having to log into the Portal.
