{"id":1645,"date":"2022-02-02T10:44:25","date_gmt":"2022-02-02T15:44:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/its\/help-centre\/?page_id=1645"},"modified":"2023-02-28T12:53:39","modified_gmt":"2023-02-28T17:53:39","slug":"email-forwarding-rules","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/its\/help-centre\/email-forwarding-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"Email Forwarding &#038; Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>To set up email forwarding<\/h2>\n<p>Staff and Students can setup email forwarding on their Carleton email address via webmail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Staff<\/strong> sign into <a href=\"http:\/\/exchange.carleton.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Exchange.Carleton.ca<\/a> using your MC1 account and password.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Students<\/strong> sign into <a href=\"https:\/\/outlook.office.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Outlook.Office.com<\/a> using your cmail address<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>At the top of the page, select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Settings<\/b><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/support.content.office.net\/en-us\/media\/70126b1d-feb8-4dc4-afc5-a93751d4e75e.png\" alt=\"Settings\" \/>&gt;\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">View all Outlook settings<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Mail<\/b>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Forwarding<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Do one of the following:\n<ul>\n<li>To turn on forwarding, select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Start forwarding<\/b>, enter the forwarding email address and select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Save<\/b>.\n<div class=\"ocpAlert\">\n<p class=\"ocpAlertSection\"><b class=\"ocpNote\">Note:\u00a0<\/b>Select the\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Keep a copy of forwarded messages<\/b>\u00a0check box if you want a copy of the original message to remain in your mailbox.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">To turn off forwarding, select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Stop forwarding<\/b>\u00a0and select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Save<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>To set up email rules<\/h2>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li class=\"\">Sign in to webmail (see above for URL)<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Settings<\/b>\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/support.content.office.net\/en-us\/media\/22ecb306-849a-4d04-8885-fe49ec9df8ce.png\" alt=\"Settings icon\" \/>. &gt; <strong>View all outlook settings<\/strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/support.content.office.net\/en-us\/media\/80946216-2234-4584-8720-8768c0f0b562.png\" alt=\"A screenshot of the Settings button.\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Mail <\/b>on the left, then <b class=\"ocpUI\">Rules <\/b>in the middle menu<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Add<\/b>\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/support.content.office.net\/en-us\/media\/65e797da-2c59-475a-a555-99c9421c8284.png\" alt=\"The Add icon\" \/>\u00a0under\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Inbox rules<\/b>.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/support.content.office.net\/en-us\/media\/b47397d7-f61e-43e6-a19a-e3621a5f81ec.jpg\" alt=\"Add inbox rule\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Type a name for the inbox rule in the\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Name<\/b>\u00a0box and then select a condition and action from their respective drop-down lists.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/support.content.office.net\/en-us\/media\/bd3136bf-aa49-4958-8b73-2f237f720e54.jpg\" alt=\"New Rule dialog\" \/>You can add additional conditions or actions by selecting\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Add condition<\/b>\u00a0or\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Add action<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Add exceptions to the inbox rule by selecting\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Add exception<\/b>\u00a0and then choosing one from the\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Add exception<\/b>\u00a0menu.<\/li>\n<li>By default, the\u00a0<b class=\"ocpUI\">Stop processing more rules<\/b>\u00a0option is turned on. With this option on, when a message arrives in your inbox that meets the criteria for more than one rule, only the first rule will be applied.
