{"id":280,"date":"2016-11-10T11:11:57","date_gmt":"2016-11-10T16:11:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/its\/help-centre\/?page_id=280"},"modified":"2024-04-04T09:05:35","modified_gmt":"2024-04-04T13:05:35","slug":"rename-your-mycarletonone-account","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/its\/help-centre\/rename-your-mycarletonone-account\/","title":{"rendered":"Rename your MyCarletonOne Account"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You can change your MyCarletonOne account name using the &#8216;chosen name&#8217; option in <a href=\"http:\/\/central.carleton.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carleton Central<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-is-a-chosen-name\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-is-a-chosen-name\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What is a Chosen Name?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-is-a-chosen-name\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><br \/>\nYour chosen name is the first name you commonly go by, and differs from your legal first name.<\/p>\n<p>Carleton University requires that individuals use their legal name on all legal records and official documents (e.g. transcripts and Certificates of Enrolment).<\/p>\n<p>The Chosen Name is fully supported in the following systems:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Campus Card<\/li>\n<li>CU email address<\/li>\n<li>MyCarletonOne (MC1) account<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-how-do-i-update-my-chosen-name\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-how-do-i-update-my-chosen-name\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">How do I update my Chosen Name?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-how-do-i-update-my-chosen-name\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Requests to add, update, or remove the Chosen Name can be made through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/360.carleton.ca\/urd\/sits.urd\/run\/siw_lgn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carleton Central<\/a>\u00a0by clicking on \u2018Personal Information\/Preferred First Name\u2019. This change will take effect within 2 working days.<\/li>\n<li>No supporting documentation is required but it is assumed that the request will be made in good faith.<\/li>\n<li>Once you submit a Chosen Name use the ITS <a href=\"https:\/\/itsjira.carleton.ca\/servicedesk\/customer\/portal\/5\/group\/55\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">customer portal<\/a> to request your MC1 and email address reflect the change.<\/li>\n<li>You are entitled to a free replacement of your Campus Card after changing your chosen name, you do this by contacting the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/campuscard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Campus Card<\/a> office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<p>If you need to update your legal name:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Staff\/Faculty<\/strong>: fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/i.carleton.ca\/hr\/cu-files\/name-change-request-form\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Name Change Request form<\/a>\u00a0and submit to HR.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Students:<\/strong> contact the<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registrar\/ccnamechange\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Registrar\u2019s Office<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once your legal name has been updated you will need to contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/its\/contact\/\">ITS Service Desk<\/a> to have your account updated with the name change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You can change your MyCarletonOne account name using the &#8216;chosen name&#8217; option in Carleton Central.
