A number of project management-related tasks must be completed in this phase that set the stage for the rest of the project. The major tasks include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Confirm funding source<\/li>\n<li>Assemble the project team<\/li>\n<li>Prepare high-level business and functional requirements<\/li>\n<li>Update the project risk assessment<\/li>\n<li>Establish a Project Steering Committee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With regards to Security and Privacy, at this time the client should be completing the Security Assessment Questionnaire, and a member of the Security team is invited to the project kick-off meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The Compliance team also has a role to play at this stage by ensuring that the accessibility requirements are validated, and a policy review is conducted.<\/p>\n<p>To facilitate the completion of these and other tasks, the Project Manager must complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/its\/project-office\/cu-files\/its-pmo-gate-1-initiation-checklist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ITS PMO Gate 1 \u2013 Initiation Checklist<\/a>, and submit it to the Manager, PMO for approval to proceed to the next phase, Planning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/its\/project-office\/methodology\/project-lifecycle\/\">Back to Project Lifecycle Main Page<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Initiation Phase is the first official phase of a project.
