If a team owner has restricted app installation to owners only, a private channel owner may need to request installation prior to adding an app tab.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately,\u00a0there are certain Apps (for instance Planner) which have a pretty tight connection to an Office 365 Group. Because the private channel has a site collection which is <strong>NOT<\/strong> group connected, those Apps are <strong>NOT<\/strong> available. It is anticipated that Microsoft will provide a solution, but there is no timeline on availability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>References<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/microsoftteams.uservoice.com\/forums\/555103-public\/suggestions\/38063230-create-planner-tabs-within-private-channels\">microsoftteams.uservoice.com\/forums\/555103-public\/suggestions\/38063230-create-planner-tabs-within-private-channels<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/robertschouten.com\/2019\/11\/04\/top-5-things-to-know-about-private-channels-in-microsoft-teams\/\">robertschouten.com\/2019\/11\/04\/top-5-things-to-know-about-private-channels-in-microsoft-teams\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t<\/dd>\n\n\t<dl>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"slideme\">\n\t<dl class=\"slideme__list\">\n\n\t\t<dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-trouble-finding-users-to-add-to-your-team\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-trouble-finding-users-to-add-to-your-team\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Trouble finding users to add to your Team?<\/a><\/dt>\n\n\t\t<dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-trouble-finding-users-to-add-to-your-team\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t<p>If you cannot find someone you wish to add to your Team, the two most likely causes are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You are searching for the wrong name &#8211; check their email address.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For example, if you&#8217;re <strong>unsuccessfully<\/strong> searching for <em>Mary Smith<\/em>, but upon checking their email address find it&#8217;s <em>&#109;&#x61;r&#105;&#x61;n&#110;&#x65;S&#x6d;&#x69;&#116;&#x68;&#64;&#99;&#x75;n&#101;&#x74;&#46;&#x63;&#x61;&#114;&#x6c;&#x65;&#116;&#x6f;n&#46;&#x63;a<\/em>, try searching for <em>Marianne<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You are searching for someone who does <strong>NOT<\/strong> yet have access to <strong>Teams<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While Carleton ensures that staff\/faculty are licensed for the email component of <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/its\/o365\">Office 365<\/a>, access to the Office 365 \u201cextras\u201d, including <strong>Microsoft Teams<\/strong>, requires the end-user first <strong>accept<\/strong> the Microsoft offer for these \u201cextras\u201d:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/ms-offer-faculty\">carleton.ca\/ms-offer-faculty<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: If neither of the above apply, please\u00a0cannot contact the <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/its\/contact\">Service Desk<\/a> to enter a ticket to verify that the end-user in question has an MC1 (My Carleton One) account and that they have enabled access to the Office 365 &#8220;extras.&#8221;<\/p>\n\t\t<\/dd>\n\n\t<dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<h2>Getting Started<\/h2>\n<section class=\"content-wrapper content-wrapper--shortcode\">\n\t\n<div class=\"slideme\">\n\t<dl class=\"slideme__list\">\n\n\t\t<dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-i-have-both-staff-and-student-accounts-i-end-up-in-the-wrong-teams-account\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-i-have-both-staff-and-student-accounts-i-end-up-in-the-wrong-teams-account\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">I have both Staff and Student accounts; I end up in the wrong Teams account<\/a><\/dt>\n\n\t\t<dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-i-have-both-staff-and-student-accounts-i-end-up-in-the-wrong-teams-account\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t<p>When you have more than one account for the same service, you may end up logged in under the &#8220;wrong&#8221; account. For example you may have both a personal and a Carleton Microsoft account. Or you may have a Carleton student and a Carleton staff account.<\/p>\n<p>We recommend you use the Teams app and avoid this problem entirely, by configuring the app with your desired account.\u00a0However, if you are using the web interface, here are <strong>two workarounds<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>1. Use different browsers for each account. e.g. Chrome for one, and IE or Edge for the other<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 OR<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>2. Each Teams site has a default channel, General.
